Last week we drove over the mountains to the central Washington town of Yakima, where my partner Christy grew up. I always find great images there with the fruit, wineries, the small town Americana feel of the town itself, and the amazing scenery nearby in the picturesque Yakima Canyon. Yakima was covered in the current Sunset Magazine, so all the merchants are posting tear sheets in their shops. In the summer, I love to drive up Naches Canyon on Highway 410 to Chinook Pass, past Mt Rainier, then back to down the other side of the Cascades to Seattle.
As an apple and pear center, these long rows of fruit crates are all around town.
